Life as I know it

Fall Top 10 To Do’s

Fall is in full swing. While some of us are really happy about that, there are those who may feel lost now that summer is over. Not me. I love the change in wardrobe, home décor and even planning meals based on the season. That means the holidays are just around the corner – oh my – barely two months away

Don’t panic. Enjoy every moment of the wonderful things fall has to offer. As always, I have to take stock and determine if I’m ready. Here are some things to add to your TO DO LIST:

  1. Determine the exact amount of conditioner needed to tame static electricity in your hair without weighing it down. (I looked like I’d been electrocuted this morning.)
  2. Take your coat to the dry cleaners. (Why didn’t I do it in March?)
  3. Re-allocate the car wash budget dollars to Spiced Pumpkin Lattes
  4. Find the EXACT comfortable temperature for the house. I know you are puzzled why 68 degrees six weeks ago was comfortable and now you think you’re freezing to death. Trust me, you should have paid attention in science class which explained this phenomenon fully.
  5. Local blueberries, strawberries and peaches are gone until next year. Find another fruit to crave until summer 2020. Eat an apple. You know why.
  6. If you are not a football fan, come to terms with the fact that Monday and Thursday nights, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday are a total loss without a plan. Here’s a plan: Binge watch entire seasons of shows on Netflix. Make a list and a big bowl of popcorn. Football schmootball.
  7. Stock up on cold weather libations. Have you ever seen somebody sit by the fire with a smoothie? I didn’t think so.
  8. Give yourself permission to be a slug. It’s at least six months until you might have to put on a swimsuit. Wear sweat pants. Go without makeup. Still bathe, though.
  9. Drag out grandma’s recipes for comfort food … not that low fat, no fat garbage you torture yourself with in Spring and Summer. You cannot be a proper slug under 1000 calories per serving.
  10. Don’t be a recluse. Invite friends over. Play some board games. Eat some comfort food and don’t forget the hot toddy!

Take the time to enjoy one of my favorite times of year. What do you have on your TO DO LIST for fall?
